Tanzania Daima: Zitto akimbilia Polisi
Mtanzania / RAI: Chadema watafuta suluhu
Majira: Zitto kujibu mashtaka 11
Some thoughts:
Interesting to note that Nipashe and Majira, both usually reasonably reliable papers, mention 11 charges against Zitto, while Mwananchi says the issue is only about one thing – the famous document. These different interpretations are based on the same press conference, held yesterday by Tundu Lissu and John Mnyika of Chadema (video).
More interesting still, Tanzania Daima and Mtanzania/RAI claim some interesting new developments in their articles (and headlines).
Daima reports on Zitto opening a case with the police against Chadema regional secretary for Dar es Salaam, Henry Kileo, relating to another document (presumably the one that circulated a couple of weeks ago bearing serious allegations against Zitto):
Mtanzania’s “scoop” goes in a very different direction, suggesting a search for a compromise has begun:
If true, this is the most interesting development in today’s coverage. But since it appears to contradict the tough stance being taken by Chadema leadership, as reported in most of the other papers, it seems unlikely.
The blogosphere has some interesting analysis again today:

Finally, just one cartoon today, from The Citizen:
Clinging to power? Hold on to your seats? He is the chair-man, after all.
Seems like someone agrees with my conclusion that I would not like to be Freeman Mbowe right now.
